72-295 Ramon Thousand Palms Family owned and operated since 1963 Leon W. Bourgeau 1907-2004 Leon died February 9, 2004 at Eisenhower Hospital from complications due to pneumonia. He lived the last 38 years in Palm Desert and Idyllwild. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Greta; and his sons, Robert, Richard and Michael; and his granddaughters, Jessica and Renee. He lived his life as a faithful Christian and that is how his family will remember him.

He was a gentle man and always a gentleman. Leon was born in New York City and at the age of 4 moved to California where he spent most of his life. He worked most of his career at MGM Studios when it was truly the "Golden Era" of Hollywood. He retired as a film editor in 1967. It was a time when all men wore hats and carried cloth handkerchiefs.

A time when dignity and character mattered and that is how Leon lived his life down to the last moment. Leon worked many facets at the studio and he used to love to tell stories about it. One story that he loved (especially in this day and age) was that he was in charge of going to the censors to get approval for the most famous movie phrase of all time spoken by Clark Gable, "Frankly my dear, I don't give a which had originally been rejected as too profane. Leon lived a very full and exciting life and knew many famous people. He once spent a weekend at Hearst Castle as a guest of William Randolph Hearst.

He knew Walt Lillian Disney and spent several holidays at their home. He bought Lillian's horse when she could no longer ride due to pregnancy. Walt told him that he liked Leon because he was the only one who would tell him what he truly thought of his movies. He knew Ronald Reagan when he was just thought of as a two-bit actor around the studio. He was there when Elvis made movies and when Clark Gable wanted to buy a ranch in Oregon to get away from fans but a gag writer told him he would stand out like a radish in a goat's behind.

Even though he didn't have the fame of his contemporaries he was no less the greatest man to ever step foot in Hollywood or anywhere else for that matter. He was very successful in life as a devoted husband and loving father and businessman. He retired after his children were born to spend time with them. His loving wife was always by his side to the end. He was the original "Mr.

Mom" who took delight in caring for his children, not because he had to but because he wanted to. He loved animals, was adventurous and loved to travel. Leon loved life and he kept that love alive along with his sense of humor to the very end. Leon was dearly loved and will be truly missed, but not forgotten. The Bourgeau Family.
