He was found brutally murdered three days later. In 1963: 200,000 people participated in a civil rights rally where the Rev. Lighthill, of Palm Springs, passed away on Wednesday, August 21, 2002. He was born in Lake Oswego, Oregon and lived in the Palm Springs area for the past thirty years. Mr.

Lighthill owned and operated Lighthill Motors in Palm Springs. He was active in vintage automotive racing, restoring a 1967 Volkswagen Beetle and preparing it for vintage racing. the only road-racing VW bug on the west coast, was the popular favorite in the annual Palm Springs Vintage Grand Prix. Mr. Lighthill, lifelong aviation enthusiast, earned his private-pilot's license in 1981.

He could often be found at the airport, watching planes. He is survived by his wife, Anja; and his four children, Selby, 28, of San Francisco; Jessica, 19; Ryan, 16; and Jonathan, 12; all of Palm Springs. Memorial Services Will Be Private OBITUARIES Carmen Arroyo Carmen Camacho Arroyo, 74, a 31-year resident of Indio, died Aug. 26, 2002, at home. She was born July 11, 1928, to Flaviano and Petronila Gonsalez Camacho in San Luis Potosi, Mexico.

She was a homemaker. She is survived by six sons, Leobardo of Corona, Cristobal, Rigoberto, Jose, Rogelio and Ricardo all of Indio; her daughter, Maria Luz Arroyo Chavez of Indio; three brothers; three sisters, 24 grandchildren; and 12 greatgrandchildren. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. with a vigil service at 6 p.m. today at FitzHenry Funeral Home Indio Chapel.

Mass services will be 9 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Indio. Dolores Chandler Dolores Pauline Chandler, 71, of Cathedral City died Aug. 25, 2002, in Palm Springs.

She was born Jan. 26, 1931, to Peter and Hattie Klajbor in Chicago. She was a bookkeeper for the archdiocese of Chicago. She was a member of Park David Community. She is survived by two sons, Glenn Sigmund of Palm Springs and Craig Chandler of Gulfport, her brother, Leonard Klajbor of Franklin Park, and three grandchildren.

Wachtel Harry B. Wachtel, 59, of Palm Desert died Aug. 24, 2002, in Palm Desert. He was born Aug. 3, 1943, to Leonard F.

and Gertrude Bokal Wachtel in New York. He was a stockbroker for 19 years. He served in the U.S. Army. He is survived by two sons, Fred of Los Angeles and Greg of New York.

She married Arturo Conrado Garcia in 1998 in Purandiaro, Michoacan, Mexico. She was a homemaker. She married Adolfo Gutierrez on June 22, 1968, in Indio. She was a homemaker. 25, 2002, in Palm Springs. He was born Feb. 23, 1913, to Barney and Anne Robinson Mayer in Chicago. He married Ethel Kubitsky on June 26, 1938, in Chicago. He was a salesperson for 40 years.

He is survived by two sons, Martin and Alan both of LaCanada; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Ethel in 2000. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Palm Springs Mortuary in Cathedral City. Entombment will be at a later date at Palm Springs Mausoleum with Palm Springs Mortuary in charge of arrangements.
