-THE DESERT SUN, Palm Springs, Calif. -Saturday, February 20, 1988 The Weather Roadrunner vs. ostrich Rodney and his buddies think this weekend will be perfect for outdoor sports, so they've decided to strut on over to the National Date Festival and challenge the ostriches to a game of team tag. The roadrunners have the advantage, since their bulky feathered friends have been racing daily and should be pretty tuckered out. Rodney promises feathers won't get too ruffled at least not from the wind.

It's expected to calm down Saturday morning, with highs ranging from 70 to 78, he said. Temperatures Sunday, closing day of the festival, will increase 00 to 83. Lows both days will be 35 to 45. Southern California forecasts DESERT AREAS Local north to northeast winds 20 to 30 mph decreasing today. Local areas of blowing dust and sand.

Stahlheber, a native of Cleveland, Ohio, died Wednesday in Indio. Survivors include her husband. Robert; two stepsons, Philip Stahlheber of Tehachapi and Robert Stahlheber of Irvine; a sister, Laura Melegari of Canton, Ohio; six grandchildren and seven greatgrandchildren. Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday at the FitzHenry Funeral Home.

Burial will be at Coachella Valley Cemetery. C. Gordon Livingston Memorial services for "Doc" C. Gordon Livingston, 70, of Palos Verdes and La Quinta, will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the Wayfarer's Chapel, 5755 Palos Verdes Drive South.

Rancho Palos Verdes. Mr. Livingston, a native of Hawaii, died Sunday. He served as a pilot for the Navy during World War II, earning the Distinguished Flying Cross. He retired as a commander.

He became a test pilot for the Navy and later a civilian experimental test pilot and a member of the Society of Experimental Test Pilots and Soaring Society of America. Survivors include his wife, Ruth: two daughters, Sandra and Jhan; two brothers, William and Gilbert Livingston, both of Hawaii, and one grandchild.
